Our Mission
Balthis Family Rescue is dedicated to rescuing homeless, abandoned, and at-risk cats and kittens. We provide comprehensive veterinary care, a loving foster home environment, and work to place every animal into a secure and compassionate forever home.
We believe that through community action, education, and dedication, we can create a better world for animals, one rescue at a time.
Our Story
For the past three years, our work has been a grassroots effort fueled by love and necessity. It all started in the RV park we call home, where we witnessed a massive and growing population of community cats with nowhere to go.
With the invaluable help of the Humane Society of Sumter County and Planned Pethood, we began a focused Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) effort to manage the population humanely. But we knew we had to do more. We opened our own home, taking in as many cats and kittens as we could, feeding them out of our own pocketbook and rushing them to the vet when they were injured.
While we've found loving homes for some, we've seen firsthand that Sumter County Animal Services is overwhelmed. Seeing so many cats euthanized simply due to lack of space was something my wife and I could not bear. That's why we are expanding our operation. Our goal is to give a second chance to the cats of the greater Sumter County area and build a community dedicated to saving them.
